Impact Accelerator kicks off in East London
And we’re off! Our latest Impact Accelerator in East London has just launched. We’re delighted to welcome 15 exciting ventures from across a range of diverse sectors – such as fashion, Fintech, health and wellbeing, transport, and more – that all focus on addressing global or local challenges in some way. Running for 6 months, the programme is designed to help these start-ups to grow and achieve greater impact, with workshops and mentoring covering sales, marketing, finance, operations, teams, and funding.
The launch was delivered in person at our Future Business Centre in Hackney* with many of the cohort joining online and it was great to see the ventures coming together, sharing ideas and expanding their networks throughout the day. As Jones Oviawe from MoneyStory – a financial coaching platform, put it: “One of the best ways to deliver the best impact is to partner with companies who have affinity for the problems we face”.
Each month will cover a different subject in detail, varying from value propositions, investment and fundraising, scaling and growth, to the all-important pitch. Alexander Macdonald from Hindsight – a start-up developing rear-vision cycling glasses – confirmed that he’d chosen to apply for the programme because: “Allia is very well suited to start putting us in front of investors”.
Andrew Brisbin, Head of Enterprise Programmes at Allia, who will be leading the Accelerator said: “I am thrilled to see this amazing cohort get started on the Impact Accelerator; we hold very high expectations for the positive impact they can have on the world.
We are pleased to welcome a diverse class of founders with nearly a 50/50 split across male/female founders and almost 50% of our cohort coming from the BAME community. They are tackling issues that address 15 of the 17 UN SDGs as well as some of the long-standing socio-economic issues plaguing society that have been exacerbated by COVID-19. Every journey starts with a single step and this cohort has sprinted into action.”
