Start Strong Lewisham Launches to Help Local Residents Turn Ideas Into Action

Applications are now open for Start Strong Lewisham, a free 6-week programme supporting Lewisham residents to turn early-stage ideas into businesses and social ventures.

Delivered by Allia Impact and funded by CVC DIF and Peabody, the programme is designed for people who want to start something of their own but may not know where to begin. Whether participants have a new idea, side hustle or early concept, Start Strong Lewisham will provide the practical support, guidance and confidence to help them take the next step.

Running from 27th May to 7th July 2026, the programme combines expert-led workshops, mentoring and peer support to help participants shape their ideas, understand how they could work, test them with feedback and prepare for launch.

No business experience is required, making the programme accessible to people at the very start of their journey.

As part of the programme, participants will also have the opportunity to pitch their idea at the final showcase for the chance to win a £1,000 grant to help bring their venture to life.

The programme is open to Lewisham residents from all backgrounds, with a strong focus on creating opportunities for people who may not typically see themselves represented in traditional start-up spaces.

Alongside the core programme, a Community Day will take place on 7th May 2026, offering local residents the chance to meet the team, ask questions, connect with others and learn more before applications close.

Start Strong Lewisham builds on the success of previous cohorts delivered in boroughs including Camden, Islington, Hackney and Tower Hamlets, where participants have gone on to launch ventures, grow in confidence and access further opportunities.

Applications are now open. Don’t miss out!

Apply now and take the first step towards turning your idea into something real.
