The Cambridge News and Media Business Excellence Awards took place last night, celebrating the best and brightest across a range of sectors in the city.
Allia once again had the pleasure of sponsoring the Allia Social Entrepreneurship Award, which seeks to find the initiative that has delivered or will deliver the most impressive impact on society in terms of social, environmental and economic impact.
‘We were very pleased with the calibre of entries in this year’s Allia Social Entrepreneurship Award, with more applications than ever before – though it did make the judging very tough!’ said Martin Clark, Deputy CEO and Director of Impact Innovation at Allia.
The winner, announced at last night’s ceremony, was Arthur Rank Hospice, for their entrepreneurial approach to fundraising for the development of the new hospice building, and to securing future financial stability for the charity.
Martin continued, ‘The judges felt Lynn Morgan, in leading her team at Arthur Rank to create the wonderful new hospice, had demonstrated sustained and effective social entrepreneurship over a period of several years. This is evidenced by her leadership, overcoming multiple complex challenges through strategic skill and tireless determination. We are delighted to honour this achievement through the Allia Award for Social Entrepreneurship.’
Dr. Lyn Morgan, CEO of Arthur Rank Hospice, also picked up the award for Business Person of the Year.
Other entries into the Social Entrepreneurship category came from a huge variety of businesses, charities and social enterprises, and included:
