Once more, Allia Future Business Centre Cambridge welcomed in the public as part of Cambridge Wide Open Day. Companies at Allia leading the way in science and technological discoveries showcased themselves in the building’s main atrium.
Launched in 2023, Cambridge Wide Open Day champions the collaborative spirit that is the lifeblood of Cambridge’s success. Business & science hubs across the city open their doors to visitors, and Allia Future Business Centre Cambridge Campus has proudly taken part since its inception. Cambridge Wide Open Day offers an opportunity not only for visitors to travel across Cambridge discovering the innovation happening on their doorstep, but also at Allia for tenants to meet each other and share their discoveries and insights.
Our Future Business Centres are home to many businesses making positive impact, and Cambridge Wide Open Day was a great chance for those companies to be platformed. Throughout the atrium there were displays for visitors to look at and interact with, such as Clarity Sensors’ miniature perovskites aimed to increase image quality & cost effectiveness of x-ray scanners. Attendees were even able to ride around Allia’s site courtesy of Cambridge Electric Transport’s CitiPod, an enclosed e-bike that people could get in and trial for themselves.
As well as practical demonstrations, exciting conversations between tenants were had about how to drive social and environmental impact through collaboration. Cambridge Wide Open Day is a chance for like-minded people to meet, many of whom are tenants at Allia that may not have had the chance to interact before. By bringing innovators together, discussions can be had that set the path for large-scale positive impact, which is what Allia is all about and looks to champion wherever possible.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the amazing work that our tenants do behind closed doors.”
David Broach, Director of Allia Future Business Centre
Speaking on the Cambridge Tech Podcast, which recorded a live episode during Cambridge Wide Open Day, Allia’s Director of Future Business Centre David Broach commented “It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the amazing work that our tenants do behind closed doors. Not only to the other tenants who find out a bit more about what other organisations are doing, and areas that they can collaborate, but also to the outside world. It’s great to have members of other innovation centres or members of the public coming in and learn about the work our tenants are doing.”
We hope all who attended the day had a fantastic time. If you would like to find out more about the companies who participated, a full list can be found below.
