Turn your solo business into a future-ready social enterprise

This is a three-day programme partially funded by the UK Government and the UK Tech Cluster Group. It aims to help existing business owners to understand how to grow their workforce, customer base and income; as well as outsource key functions of their operations, allowing them to work on the business, not in it.  

You will benefit from expert-led workshops, dedicated mentorship, and a vibrant peer community to help take your first confident steps towards launching a business.

Your pathway to success

Here’s what you’ll gain:

  • A structured pathway to review your existing impact-based business and identify opportunities to grow your business  
  • 1:1 mentorship from experienced founders and experts 
  • Access to Allia’s network of impact entrepreneurs, venture advisors and investors 
  • Connections with others building change in Nottingham and across the East Midlands Combined County Authority area (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire). 
  • Programme Content: Reviewing Business Model, Theory of Change, Customer and Empathy Mapping, Marketing and Sales, Financial Management and Budgeting, Outsourcing, Recruiting a team, Self-awareness, Pitching for Investment/Customers

How it works

  • Format - Wednesday 26th Nov, Wednesday 3rd Dec, Wednesday 10th Dec,  
  • Apply Now – Submit a short application to tell us about you and your idea.  
  • Grow Your Enterprise – Review your business model and learn skills and knowledge to allow you to work on your business, not in it.  
  • Join the Allia Impact Alumni Community – Become part of the 4000+ impact community across the UK. 

Who should apply

  • Have registered your business in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, or Nottinghamshire. (We welcome all legal structures – Charities, CICs, and Limited by Share/Guarantee.)

  • Run a business delivering positive social or environmental impact. This could include sectors such as Education and Learning, Children and Adults, Housing and Homelessness, or Low Carbon and Sustainability.

  • (We are particularly interested in Tech for Good businesses with a digital platform or physical product that generate both impact and income.)

  • Have been operating for several months to two years, developed an MVP, or are generating revenue or customer insights.

  • Are ready to grow – by recruiting staff, expanding your customer and income base, and outsourcing admin or back-office functions to focus on business development.

  • Are committed to attending all sessions and taking your business to the next level.

The Founder Pitstop is a free four-week, in-person programme helping experienced start-up founders navigate the pressure of running a venture. This programme addresses a fundamental truth hurting many businesses: sustaining a venture requires not just operational grit, but the space to reconnect with the curiosity and creativity that fuel long-term resilience.    

Combining reflective business support with hands-on creative practice, weekly workshops ran by Allia Impact & Madam Makery offer a different way to tackle the isolation and cognitive load eroding curiosity for so many. These workshops will allow founders to take a step back, think strategically to problem-solve the challenges they face, break routine thinking, and return to the spark that gave them a reason to start their business. 

Start Strong Lewisham

Turn your idea into an impactful venture

Start Strong Lewisham is a free 6-week business support programme for Lewisham residents who want to turn an idea into a business or social venture.

Whether you are just getting started or still exploring an early idea, the programme will help you build your confidence, develop your business idea, and take practical steps towards launching. It is designed to support aspiring founders from all backgrounds, especially those who may not have seen themselves reflected in traditional start-up spaces.
